Breast- Lift
Breast- Lift - What is it
Ptosis (greek word for ‘fall’) of the breast can occur after: significant weight loss, one or more pregnancies, breastfeeding or just skin-relaxation and loss of elasticity as a result of the aging process.
The ideal time for the correction of ptosis is after your last (scheduled) pregnancy.
Indications
In cases where ptosis is accompanied by a significant loss of breast mass, breast augmentation is performed at the same time, while in cases with skin and breast tissue excess, breast reduction is carried out simultaneously.
Technique
Mastopexy or breast-lift is performed under general anesthesia and lasts 2-3 hours. It involves excision of the excessive skin, breast tissue redistribution and fixation of the nipple in a normal, non – ptotic position. Postoperatively the patient wears a sports-bra for a month and can return to her daily activities within a week.
Advantages
A breast-lift can give you:
- an improved breast shape, projection, and symmetry
- a more youthful appearance
