Thread-Lift
Thread-Lift - What is it
Thread-lifts is a minimally invasive technique which addresses the sagging tissues of the lower third of the face, i.e. the 'marionette-lines' (under the corners of the mouth) and the jaw-line definition.
In order to achieve this, 2-4 absorbable threads are inserted on each side inbetween the skin and the deeper soft tissues. Each one of these threads has several 'hooks' which anchor the ptotic tissues in a higher position, providing support and a more youthful look.
The procedure cannot be considered as an alternative to the surgical face-lift, as the results are not permanent and are less impressive.
Indications
- ‘marionette’ lines (corners of the mouth)
- jowls (jaw-definiton)
Technique
Under local anaesthesia the threads (usually 2-3/side) are inserted under the skin. Once they have reached the point of desired elevation, the threads (along with your skin) are pulled upward and their pending edges are cut.
Advantages
- minimal downtime
- relatively painless
