Gynaecomastia
Gynaecomastia - What is it
This is the condition in which a male breast is disproportionately developed. Gynaecomastia is considered normal in children up to 2 years, in adolescents (over half of them have gynecomastia, the majority of which resolves spontaneously) and in the elderly.
In adults, however, a certain cause should be sought followed subsequently by the proper treatment. Among the possible causes is the consumption of anabolic drugs, marijuana and certain medications (e.g. amiodarone).
Indications
The good news is that this condition rarely involves any further health risks, apart from the negative psychological impact on the patients and the comfort problems it generates to them.
Technique
Under general or local anesthesia, depending on the case, the excessive breast tissue is removed either via liposuction or by performing a proper mastectomy through a small incision below the nipple .
Postoperatively, the patient wears a pressure-garment for about a month and returns to his daily activities (excluding sports ) in a few days.
Advantages
- permanent result
