Fractional-Laser
Fractional-Laser - What is it
Nowdays fractional laser is considered the single most effective way of facial skin resurfacing. By using rapid pulses of high-intensity light not only the damaged upper layers of your skin are removed, but also collagen growth from the dermis (the layer which lies just under your skin) is stimulated. The result is smoothing and tightening of the skin and less wrinkles and pigmentation problems. Thus we can reverse the damaging effects of acne scars, sun exposure, aging and lifestyle habits (such as smoking) on the quality, color and texture of your skin.
For optimal results 2-3 sessions (once every month*) may be required.
Fractional laser can also be used as a refinement after a facelift or eyelid surgery to improve your skin's quality once the tissues are 're-arranged' (usually up-lifted).
* Laser skin resurfacing can only take place from October-May, due to the high sun exposure in Greece during the rest of the months
Indications
- large pores of the face
- mild to moderate loose skin on the face and/or neck
- striae distensae on the torso
- acne scars
- various pigments of your face
Technique
Prior to the treatment an anaesthetic cream is applied for 30′ in order to make the procedure as painless as possible. Each pass of the laser beam “drills” tiny holes into your skin, leaving it quite red. This ‘redness’ will last 2-3 days, but can be easily covered up with make-up (or coloured sunscreen).
The healing process starts right after the treatment and is done by “connecting the dots.”
When the treatment is finished, your resurfaced skin is covered with a protective ointment which you will have to use three times a day for a month, combined with a sunscreen regardless of sun exposure and period of the year.
Advantages
- relatively painless (‘lunch-time treatment’)
- provides skin smoothing as well as skin tightening
- quick recovery
